Above: I crafted this card with paper card stock, two fun patterns, a hole punch, some string, some dried grass and a wooden bead. I added a special touch on the inside from our wedding invitations (designed by my sister Promise Tangeman), a cheery little red strawberry. I had the amazing Carissa from JL Designs in mind when putting this one together, as she did an INCREDIBLE job with our florals and decor for our big day.

Above: These two cards were also created on card stock & decorated with an assortment of things. I cut the red Strawberry our of our wedding invitation to send to Stacy Emmett at Strawberry Farms. I securd the strawberry & fun pattern with string running through two hole punches. The next card was created for Elysium Producitons a HUGE thank-you to them for such a fantastic job on our wedding video. I used two ribbons from gifts, a cut out from a wedding card, a fun patterned paper & some string.

I saw this adorable picture on my mom’s fridge. She’s a teacher & can come home with some pretty cute things from those little kiddos. Ania must have thought that the “luckys” are the toasted oat part of the cereal. I like how she put two and two together! This got me thinking about some of my own kid writing that I saved in a special notebook. I absolutely loved to write and draw.

Translation: Not quite sure. When ever movie be silly I laugh because it makes me ticklish? Any other suggestions?

Me and my sister hard at work! We loved to play office. I must have had my call on hold – not quite facing my ear! Apparently this was ‘bring your kids to work day,’ because Promise has her baby! Haha.

1. Invites. My sister Promise Tangeman is designing our invitations! She has sent me over a few drafts & they look better than I had ever imagined! Can wait for their big release!

2. Venue. I feel so inspired by our venue! I absolutly love chocolate covered strawberries, so when I found Strawberry Farms, I knew it was a perfect fit. The staff is amazing & they make planning a wedding simple. I’ve decided that a “vintage strawberry” look will be part of our theme, and I am so excited to see it come together!

3. Dessert. Troy and I decided that we’re a little caked out. Instead of having cake at our reception – we thought it would be fun to incorporate a little something special from where we live. Balboa Bars are famous in Newport Beach. If you’ve never heard of them you just might need to venture down this way to try one! Yummy vanilla ice-cream hand dipped in chocolate and smothered in sprinkles or nuts!

One of the toughest decisions of an engagement shoot is what to wear. After all, you are paying a good deal of money for that ‘oh so good’ photographer of yours. It seems to be, that when it comes to choosing the perfect outfit, couples tend to go safe rather than fun. I call this style the oreo. Matching white shirts and jeans, or black shirts and jeans, or maybe one of each. Though this can be a very safe look, it looks strangely familiar. Think for a minute of all of the white shirts & jeans you’ve seen posing by the beach. Wouldn’t you rather spice up that shoot with some personality?

Here are a couple tips for choosing your ensemble!

1. Wear something that has lots of movement. Movement allows for more candid shots & real interactions. Comfortable pants, a flirty dress, material with a structure that slims, but the flexibility to move.

2. Feel free to wear fun colors and patterns. Some photographers prefer neutral or plain colored clothing so as to not interfere with the background. However, this is a very limiting idea. A good photographer should be inspired by your clothing & find backdrops that flatter your kickin style.

3. Wear layers & fun accessories. Your favorite scarf, his stylin hat, loud jewelry, big watches, a bright pair of shoes – whatever you absolutely love!

4. Be sure to wear outfits that compliment each other and are on the same level of dressiness. A T-shirt and flip flops will look unbalanced next to dangling earrings, a dress, and high heels.

5. And remember – be yourself! An engagement shoot isn’t something to break out in hives about. It’s a documentation of your unique love & your exciting road ahead!
