Last week Troy & I went to our friend’s ‘Back to the Future’ prom party. The idea was to party in your best 1950’s attire. Finding an outfit for the event was so fun! I went digging around in my closet & wasn’t sure if I came out from the 50’s, 60’s or 70’s! It had been a long time since I dressed up from the past. This party got me thinking, what would my kids wear if they went to a 2000 dress-up party?
I feel like we have borrowed styles from so many different generations. So what defines us now? Consider jeans for example, in the last ten years we’ve seen bell-bottoms, ripped jeans, acid washed jeans, vintage jeans, high-rise jeans, low-rise jeans, baggy boyfriend jeans, black jeans, skinny jeans, you name it!
After some long, hard thought, I think a few accessories are needed to accomplish the 2000’s look: an abercrombie shirt, skinny jeans, a trucker hat, a “livestrong” bracelet, a pair of Crocs, and a Starbucks drink in hand quoting the phrase “that’s hott” (thank you Paris Hilton).
What do you remember from the 2000’s?
