Flora and Fauna

The drive down to the Newport peninsula is in full bloom! I’m not sure if the trees have been falsely alerted that it’s spring, but they look beautiful! Driving past the white and purple blossoms have lifted my spirits this rainy season. The first day of Spring on March 20th is fast approaching! In the meantime, I hope these little sunshine girls (from the wedding we shot last weekend) will put a smile on your face!

Rachel Durban - cute! I LOVE that couch.

Blair Van Bussel - Blair Nicole Photography - So sweet & beautiful!

Call me {cook}

After hanging out with my newly married friend Marina, she inspired me to start cooking! Awhile back, Troy & I were walking the isles at Barnes and Nobles, and came across some Trader Joe’s cookbooks. Since then, we have heard nothing but good things about the books, so we decided to buy one. We may be a little behind on this new trend…but it has changed our lives this week! The other night I made my first home-made chicken pot pie – and we have been savoring the left overs! If you’re a new cook, you’ve got to give Trader Joe’s a try!

aimee - Thanks for the inspiration Marina!

marina nichols - this cook book has changed my life! every new wife's saving grace.

Craft Time.

Wahoo! It’s craft time! After all of the busyness this last month, I made it out to one of my favorite stores – Paper Source! They have some really cute paper in right now! Here are my crafting treasures along with other paper materials I have collected over the years…I think it’s time to create a few more cards!

My paper scraps fit perfectly in my favorite leather suitcase.

Here are a few new stamps & paper cutters I found as well. Merci!

Krissy - This is wonderful Aimee! Can't wait to see some of your finished products...

kathrina - is that seriously your desk??? TOO cute! I {heart} Paper Source!

The Lately

It has turned out to be quite the busy month! So sorry I haven’t been blogging as usual. We took a trip out to Omaha last week for a late wedding reception with Troy’s family, then busily began designing for the Utterly Engaged party, celebrated my Birthday on Friday & then traveled out to Palm Desert for a relaxing getaway! All of that to say, I am finally home & dreaming up my next projects!

Here are a few photos to catch you up on the lately!

I took some pictures with my new camera of Omaha’s wintry trees.

We shot engagement photos for an adorable couple in Omaha.

Fresh flowers & a new spring purse were given to me on my Birthday from Troy :)

We witnessed the calm after the storm in Newport Beach.

And then laughed so hard at my friend Billy’s take on the recent weather!!

We played and played in Pam Dessert with Ellie the comfort golden & her parents Lindye & Winn Galloway.

aimee - It's a B Makowsky :) super soft!

Rachel - Adorable purse! Where's it from?

Sara - Oh my I love that weather quote/picture, so funny!

A Peek into Modern Glam

One of my best friends, Lindye Galloway Events asked me to design a table scape with her for the Utterly Engaged New Years party. Sixteen teams contested in the “modern” themed challenge.  We decided on a modern glam theme & used industrial & paper materials to accomplish our look. We had a blast doing the challenge together & walked away feeling like our time & efforts paid off! A huge thank you to our amazing husbands Troy & Winn for their love and support! More photos to come after the February release of Utterly Engaged magazine.

Kathrina - We totally wanted to go to that party but it was the partner's bday that day so we decided to do something else ;) Can't wait to see your table scape!

Carolyn - You girls are both so gorgeous!

DIY With Love

This morning I decided to take on a DIY project – some much deserved Thank You cards for our wedding vendors!

Above: I crafted this card with paper card stock, two fun patterns, a hole punch, some string, some dried grass and a wooden bead. I added a special touch on the inside from our wedding invitations (designed by my sister Promise Tangeman), a cheery little red strawberry. I had the amazing Carissa from JL Designs in mind when putting this one together, as she did an INCREDIBLE job with our florals and decor for our big day.

Above: These two cards were also created on card stock & decorated with an assortment of things. I cut the red Strawberry our of our wedding invitation to send to Stacy Emmett at Strawberry Farms. I securd the strawberry & fun pattern with string running through two hole punches. The next card was created for Elysium Producitons a HUGE thank-you to them for such a fantastic job on our wedding video. I used two ribbons from gifts, a cut out from a wedding card, a fun patterned paper & some string.

Amalie Maren - I kind of love these! Maybe it'll inspire me to take up card making again. :)

aimee - I actually customized my blog through wordpress - you can find your own background, create your own blog banner, choose your font, ect. It takes awhile to figure out, but it's definitely do-able :)

alexandra leaden - Hey! these are great! Question: how do you get a template like this on your blog...I'm trying to start one for fun...and I don't want to be bland! I love yours! Alex

Troy Grover - you are so crafty!

I received the cutest little card in the mail from Anthropologie the other day.  A Birthday discount coupon with a candle wish necklace. I was pretty excited when I opened it! Just had to share with all of you & wish any other January Birthdays out there a happy one!

Corey - My mom got this in the mail in October and I was going to show you because i thought it was such a good/crafty idea that I know you could expand upon. P.S. the blog looks awesome, I like the new set up and comment boxes :) see you wednesday

Hope Appleford - I got mine in the mail the other day too! I was so excited!!! It's just so cute and simple. Yay for January birthdays! Happy Birthday!!

Home for the Holidays

I just got back from Seattle this week & am already a little homesick! Here are some pictures from my trip & a few of my favorite things to do when I’m home sweet home.

Drive my mustang around for old times sake

Admire the family Christmas tree!

Drink lots and lots of coffee! My mom even put out two coffee makers this time around!

Make a batch of real chocolate chip cookies from scratch

Open presents with family. This year I welcomes a new addition to our family – Troy!

Sarah - Thanks Aimee!! Sold =) I'm going to try them both!

aimee - Sarah: Thank you! This might sound like an infomercial, but I haven't had the best skin all my life - until I started using Spa Technologies Revitalizing Sea Cleanse face wash & La Bella Donna mineral make-up (which has only 3 ingredients & spf 20) Both are my favs!

Kathrina - Haha! I love that your mom put out TWO coffee makers! Gotta love the caffeine addiction :)

Sarah - Oh, so homee!! Miss Aimee you have the most beautiful skin! Here's another where did you get it question: where do you get your skin ;)your sister's is just as beautiful, so much of it is sure to be in the genes, but do you have any tips for amplifying what God has given?

Heather - It looks like you had a great Christmas! Love the pictures! God's blessings for 2010!
